How to Get a Prescription Refill Online in Singapore
Need more medication? Learn when to collect an existing prescription, when a doctor must review it, and what to do if your supply is running low.

To get a prescription refill online in Singapore, first check whether you already have a valid prescription with medicine left to collect. If you do, the issuing institution's refill service may be the right route. If you need a renewed prescription, contact your doctor for an assessment; a video consultation may be suitable, but a prescription is not guaranteed.
This guide helps you work out which request to make, what information to prepare and what to do if your supply is running low.
Refill or renewal: which do you need?
Start with the status of your existing prescription| Your situation | Next step |
| A valid prescription has uncollected medicine remaining. | Check the issuing institution's collection or delivery options. |
| The prescription has expired, has no balance, or you are unsure. | Ask your treating clinic whether you need a review or another prescription. |
| You want a different medicine or dose, or your health has changed. | Explain the change to your doctor rather than submitting it as a routine repeat order. |
A useful opening question is: “Am I collecting medicine that has already been prescribed, or do I need a doctor to prescribe more?” It helps the clinic direct your request without confusing an order with a consultation.
How to request a refill through HealthHub
HealthHub supports refill requests from participating public healthcare institutions. Its current refill instructions require a valid prescription with an uncollected balance.
- Sign in to HealthHub and choose Medication refill.
- Select the institution that issued your prescription.
- Review the available balance and select the medicine and refill option.
- Choose an available collection or delivery arrangement, check your details and submit the request.
HealthHub advises having at least two weeks of medication available before requesting delivery. Check the institution's current terms and available dates. A submitted request is not a promise of immediate supply.
For this service, refills stay with the institution that issued the prescription. This is separate from arranging a new assessment with another clinic.
When can an online doctor renew a prescription?
A doctor needs enough information to decide whether continuing treatment is appropriate. Start by asking your regular doctor whether a video review suits your situation. An in-person examination or tests may still be needed. HealthHub's telemedicine guidance explains that medicines are prescribed only when needed following assessment.
At the appointment, say whether you are asking to continue an existing plan or discuss a change. If you have new symptoms, side effects or questions about your treatment, raise them at the start. Having taken a medicine before does not by itself establish that it is still suitable.
Our online prescribing guide explains the broader assessment process. You can also read about medication-refill consultations before deciding how to seek care.
A practical checklist before you contact the clinic
- Identify the medicine: have the original label, name, strength and current instructions ready.
- Count your remaining supply: explain when it will run out under your prescribed schedule.
- Gather your records: include your last prescription, relevant test results, home readings and next appointment date, if available.
- List changes: note symptoms, side effects, allergies and other medicines or supplements.
- Confirm the plan: ask what assessment is needed, when to expect a response and how collection or delivery will work.
You can organise your message like this: “I take [medicine and strength] as prescribed for [condition]. I have [quantity] left. My next appointment is [date]. Since my last review, [changes or no changes]. Do I have a remaining prescription balance, or do I need a consultation?” Use the clinic's designated secure channel for personal medical information.
What if the medicine will run out before delivery?
Contact or return to the issuing institution for help instead of waiting for an online request. This is HealthHub's advice for urgent refill needs. Tell staff the medicine name, the quantity left and the next dose due. Ask a doctor or pharmacist for instructions if a dose may be missed; the appropriate action depends on the medicine.
Common questions
Can I use a screenshot of my HealthHub record as a prescription?
No. HealthHub explains that its displayed prescription record is not itself a prescription. It can help explain your treatment history, but does not replace the prescribing and dispensing process.
Does paying for a consultation guarantee a refill?
No. The appointment is an assessment. The doctor may need more information or an in-person review before deciding whether to prescribe.
Is delivery included in the consultation fee?
Check consultation, medicine and delivery charges separately. Confirm the total and available delivery date with the provider; see our medication delivery guide for questions to ask.
General information only. Follow the instructions given by your treating doctor or pharmacist for your own medicines.
